Tonight's running orderpublished at 00:53 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2018

We hope Sam Rockwell has already found his seat, because according to The Hollywood Reporter, best supporting actor is the first award being presented tonight.

During awards season, the host's opening monologue can often be more juicy and entertaining than the awards themselves.
Think of the recent Golden Globes hosts like Seth Myers, Ricky Gervais and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler - full of witty remarks and cutting jokes about Hollywood stars.
Stephen Fry and Joanna Lumley have recently struck a similar tone at the Baftas.
But the Oscars are a slightly more serious affair.
Especially this year, as the ceremony is taking place in the shadow of the Hollywood sexual harassment scandal that has rocked the film industry in the last six months.
It will be interesting to see how (or whether) Kimmel references it, and how much of a comedic tone he strikes in his other links.
We'll bring you his best remarks and jokes as they happen. Stay tuned.

There are rumours that Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway will return to this year's ceremony to present the prize for best picture.
After the epic envelope mix-up last year, The Hollywood Reporter, external has, err, reported that the pair will return so that, this year, they can do it right.
We imagine this year's ceremony - and their sequence in particular - has been meticulously rehearsed this year to make sure there are no mishaps.

Could there be a best picture upset?published at 00:04 Greenwich Mean Time 5 March 2018

Okay, so the acting categories appear to be a forgone conclusion.
But what about best picture?
Three Billboards was thought of a dead-cert for the early part of awards season, but the lack of a best director nomination for Martin McDonagh dented some of the film's momentum.
But that doesn't necessarily mean the film couldn't still win - Argo won best picture in 2013 despite a lack of nomination for its director Ben Affleck.
But still - there are three other films that could potentially cause an upset.
The Shape of Water and Dunkirk could well be dark horses.
But there's also a LOT of love out there for Get Out - which has been a huge hit with critics and fans alike, and has been gaining momentum during awards season.

Right, so who's going to win?published at 23:53 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2018
23:53 GMT 4 March 2018
Well, the acting categories appear to be fairly sewn up this year.
At every single televised ceremony so far this awards season, the four major categories have all been won by the same four people.
Whether it's the Baftas or the Golden Globes, the major prizes have followed this pattern:
Best actor - Gary Oldman
Best actress - Frances McDormand
Best supporting actor - Sam Rockwell
Best supporting actress - Allison Janney
It doesn't necessarily mean there won't be an upset at the Oscars, but these four categories all seem to be fairly safe bets.
Rippon on the red carpetpublished at 23:48 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2018

Figure skater Adam Rippon is wearing some sort of leather harness on the red carpet, because well why not.
Perhaps he's protesting the lack of nominations for Fifty Shades Freed.
We're not used to seeing outfits quite as inventive and creative as this on the Oscars red carpet - especially this early on.

Very important weather updatepublished at 23:42 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2018

Fortunately, the Academy's planning team were prepared for such an event - and have covered over the red carpet.

Who did well at Saturday's awards events in LA?published at 23:35 Greenwich Mean Time 4 March 2018
23:35 GMT 4 March 2018
There's been no shortage of film awards in Los Angeles in the days leading up to the Oscars.
On Saturday, Get Out was named best film at the Film Independent Spirit Awards, which honour low-budget films.
The winner at the Spirit Awards has gone on to win best picture at the Oscars for the last four years, which make Jordan Peele's horror thriller one to watch.
Here's a reminder of some other Spirit winners, some of whom are hot tips to win again at the Oscars.
- Best director - Jordan Peele, Get Out
- Best screenplay - Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird
- Best supporting female - Allison Janney, I, Tonya
- Best supporting male - Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards
- Best female lead - Frances McDormand, Three Billboards
- Best male lead - Timothee Chalamet, Call Me By Your Name
One film that won't be getting any Oscars is The Emoji Movie.
But it can console itself with a number of big wins at Saturday's other awards ceremony - Hollywood's Razzie awards.
It picked up four (yes, four) Golden Raspberry titles, including worst picture, director and screenplay.
