Faded // Bang Chan - Chapter 33 - Awkward Encounters - Page 2 (2025)

Na Ri sighed but nodded, mentally preparing herself for whatever the outcome may be. She knew Chan probably wouldn't hate her seeing as he had his own regretful past but the thought occurred to her nonetheless.

"About three years ago, I lived in Daegu with my Mum and brother. My parents had separated years before and dad moved here to Seoul but when they officially divorced I guess I just lost my way. I'd always been friends with this girl called Ji Yeon from a young age but once my parents faced issues I started hanging out with a bad group of people and gradually ditched her. I guess it was my way of rebelling but I took it to an extreme." She paused, collecting her thoughts. Na Ri had always hated admitting her past faults aloud but confessing them to the boy who meant the most to her was one of the scariest things she ever had to endure.

"Right after the divorce, you could say I hit rock bottom. There was a party and I guess I was just angry at the world. I lured Ji Yeon there, she thought I wanted to rekindle our broken friendship but whe-when she g-got there...I just-" Na Ri felt the lump in her throat grow larger, forcing her voice to stutter and grow weak. She hated thinking back to the look on Ji Yeon's face as pictures of her exposed body spread around the school.

Chan gave her a sympathetic smile. He'd always known that she was hiding something big about her past, after all, nobody just transfers in the middle of a school term for no reason.

"You can tell me, Na Ri. I doubt it's half as bad as being the reason someone fell to their death." His eyebrows furrowed as his small smile turned to a frown, memories of In Ho haunting his mind.

"I tricked her into thinking that the party was a way of fixing our friendship. I don't know why I did it, maybe it was because my better judgement was hazy due to drugs but either way that doesn't justify my actions. I just loved having the power to control how someone felt and seeing her hurt due to something I'd done made me feel superior so when she arrived at the party I made sure she got tipsy so her reactions would be delayed a-and then I lured her i-into a b-bedroom." Na Ri took a deep breath, her eyes shutting closed as though the darkness she saw could somehow block out the memory as though it didn't exist.

Chan tried to keep a neutral expression on his face as to not make her more anxious but the possible outcomes to her story made it near to impossible. He couldn't help but wonder if she'd told Jungsoo this story before him. The thought brought a sliver of jealousy that he didn't even notice until he felt his nails dig into his palms. Na Ri noticed his heavy breathing and quickly opened her eyes only to be met with Chan suddenly pressing his lips to hers.

Na Ri fell back in surprise, hitting her head off of the headboard on his bed. Chan leaned forward, his body hovering over hers. Her mouth fell open, preparing for a sound of complaint to leave her lips but instead being met with his tongue moving along hers. She knew now was not the time for this but she welcomed the distraction, not bothering to question his sudden act of affection.

Chan unclenched his fist and let his hand move to her cheek while the other interlocked with her fingers. He knew kissing her to hide his jealousy wasn't the best intention to have but the bubbly feeling in his stomach seemed to justify his action, at least in his head it did.

Suddenly the door opened to reveal Chan's mother standing at the entrance with an apron on. "Oh, my bad." Her cheeks flushed red as she awkwardly smiled at the pair, taking note of their intimate positioning. Chan froze, his lips still on Na Ri's as his mother stood wide eyed by the door.

"I-uh. I just came to tell you dinner will be ready in ten minutes." She muttered before quickly shutting the bedroom door. She was unsure of how to react, not knowing whether to scold him or to encourage him to pursue what makes him happy.

Na Ri pushed Chan's body away as he erupted into laughter. "That was so embarrassing, Chan! How am I supposed to face your mum when she saw that?" Na Ri fretted. Chan grabbed both her hands and shushed her lightly. "I'm sorry, okay? I won't do that again if you'd prefer."

"I'm not saying don't do it again but I just-I don't know." Na Ri chuckled at her own frantic state.

"Now continue. You lured her?" Chan urged and Na Ri let out a deep sigh. Chan's never ending change of emotions was beginning to give her whiplash. He was definitely different to how he was when they first met but she wouldn't switch this Chan for anything else on the planet. He was her favourite person, scent, sight and sound. Everything about him seemed so inviting to her. She quickly snapped back to reality, remembering that they were in the middle of an important conversation before the awkward encounter with his mother.

"In the bedroom some of my friends were waiting for me to push her in so they could lock her there and force her to strip. I don't know why it had to be her...or anyone for that matter. I don't know why we ever did it but I can't change that it happened. They took images of her naked body and spread them to people that went to our school. It was so awful, Chan. People would constantly laugh at her and tease her or they would make dirty comments about things they'd like to do to her and I never really saw just how badly it hurt her until I came to school here and found out about her suicide attempt. Truthfully, even once the school found out and criminal action was threatened against me, I didn't care. It wasn't until I came here and saw Ji Yeon again that the weight of my actions became real to me." Na Ri babbled, rushing out one sentence after another as though it were a fictional story she had learned off by heart.

Chan sat in shock at her confession. He had no idea that she'd driven someone to suicide nor that she'd even seen Ji Yeon again. "I feel like there's so many things you never tell me, Na Ri. I want to feel a part of your life. You can tell me anything, no matter how awful it is." He encouraged.

"Then what about you, Bang Chan. What's your past story with In Ho?"

-Not proof read-

Wow, 3-4 chapters left! Can't believe this is all going to be over soon. I've been writing this for 7 months now but it feels like forever. I just want to thank all of you guys that have either been here from early on and are still here or that recently joined because I really appreciate it.

In relation to my upcoming works, I have three options for you guys that I will elaborate on more later on but this is roughly what they will be. I'm still unsure of whether to link the Changbin one to the same universe as 'Faded' or not.

-A 'Faded' spinoff which tells the life of Chan before Na Ri (before, when and after In Ho died.)

-A Changbin fanfic

-A Jisung fanfic

Once again, thank you and I love you all!
